Group Project Part 2 (200 points)
Now that you have learned about this country and how its brands have become successful in the US market, it is time for you to use your creativity to come up with a marketing communication campaign for a fictitious new start-up with the goal of doing the reverse. This campaign will focus on taking an invented US brand and entering it into the market of your chosen country. For this project, you will be responsible for picking the product category. For example, you could choose to use a fictitious product company (e.g. a cell phone company) or a fictitious service company (similar to Airbnb or Uber) in the United States.
Therefore, you will need to decide on the following for your company:
• The name of the brand
• The logo color (based on the country you pick)
• Slogan (consider the communication style in this country)
• Consumers (who are your main targeted customers)
• Where to sell your product (distribution channel)
• Pricing (high vs low.; Pricing endings)
• Communication strategy
• Identify the target audience
• Determine the brand’s objectives (Establish need for category; Build brand awareness; Build brand attitude; Influence brand purchase intention)
• Design communications (emotional appeal or rational appeal)
• Select channels (TV, radio, newspaper, billboard or social media)
Powerpoint presentation including slides for each of the following:
1. Discussion of your understanding of the target country (* The five most important take-aways from the first part of your group project) (20 points)
2. An introduction to the fictitious company you have chosen (15 points)
3. The name of the brand (15 points)
4. The logo color (based on the country you pick) (20 points)
5. Your slogan (consider the communication style in this country) (10 points)
6. Your consumers (who are your main targeted customers) (20 points)
7. Where to sell your product (distribution channel) (20 points)
8. Pricing (high vs low.; Pricing endings) (20 points)
9. Your communication strategy (60 points)
You can make any decisions you wish for your product. However, you must justify your choices based on what we have learned in class. Your final presentation will be evaluated based on
1) The creativity of your strategy
2) The justifications that you give for your strategies.
3) The overall quality of your group’s presentation (including slides, preparation, research, etc.)
Note: The justifications that you give are more important than the actual decisions that you make. In other words, I am more interested in the reasoning behind your choices than the choices themselves. For example, you can choose any color you wish for the brand logo. However, you will need to defend your choice based on the information you collected before, such as different color perceptions in certain countries.
