Instruction
Chapters 13 and 14 of the LOMA material look at Health Insurance and Health Insurance policies/programs. The LOMA material is very focused on the United States, but does draw some brief comparisons to Canada. For example, on page 202 of the text it is noted that “virtually every resident has medical expense insurance coverage provided by government-sponsored programs.” For this Group Assignment, please investigate (using the text and other research sources) and prepare a report ( pages 6, 12-font, double-spaced – including any exhibits) that outlines differences in healthcare programs in Canada and the United States. In your report, specifically answer the following questions:
1) What healthcare funding differences exist (looking at the categories that are part of chapter 13 and 14 topics)?
2) Is there more government-sponsored funding in one country than another and, if so, for what category of healthcare funding noted in the 2 chapters?
3) Does one of the two countries spend more on healthcare per capita than another and, if so, why? Is the difference connected to any Actuarial characteristics that we have talked about in class this term?
