Instruction
Students have discretion regarding the topic of these papers; however, they should focus on a theme across the readings or a specific idea addressed by the author(s) for that week. Students might also focus on an area that they feel the readings left unaddressed. Each paper should pose a discussion question and attempt to construct an argument in response to that question. Writing should be critical and analytical—in other words, this is not a paper summarizing the readings (but will reflect your familiarity with the assigned texts). Papers will be turned in as hard copies each week, unless otherwise directed in the syllabus, and students should be prepared to discuss the ideas and papers in front of their colleagues each week.
