Book/Article Critique. You will begin working on this paper in Week 1 and submit it in Week 6, and you may submit it twice while the last submission will be graded. Please refer to the courseware for additional information. The selected book is available through the following link: http://www.worldcat.org/title/why-are-all-the-black-kids-sitting-together-in-the-cafeteriaand-other-conversations-about-race/oclc/1004320266&referer=brief_results Your critique should be AT LEAST THREE TYPED, DOUBLE-SPACED PAGES EACH (up to six pages). Each book critique should answer the following questions/statements. Your responses must be in paragraph form. 1. What is the author’s major thesis? Please go straight to the key points with some elaborations. 2. Do you feel that the author is effective in support of her thesis? Why or Why not? 3. Which theoretical perspective in sociology is best reflected in the book? 4. Are there any biases in the book? 5. Is there anything that you disagreed with? Why or Why not? 6. Your comments, opinions, etc. 7. Format: Double-spaced pages in Times New Roman 12-points font with 1-inch margins. Put your name at the left top corner and page number at the right top corner. No cover page is needed. NO extra space between title and the main text. Acceptable formats should be submitted in Microsoft Words, Mac Pages, or Google Open Word Document. 8. Plagiarized assignment may receive zero on the assignment. The assignment will be examined by Blackboard SafeAssign function for plagizrism. DO NOT QUOTE content from the book but paraphrase it with citations. It is highly recommended that you may incorporate some major sociological theoretical perspectives in your book critique. Sample book critique for a different book (Colorblind : the rise of post-racial politics and the retreat from racial equity. THIS IS NOT THE ASSIGNED BOOK but just an example for your references) is attached in the end of the syllabus for your reference. NOTE: There are more detailed instructions and a sample ATTACHED!
