Based on your areas of need, post your needs assessment topic and 4-5 related dimensions (see Figure 3.7, pg. 81 of Leading School Change) that will help you design specific needs assessment statements. Comment on your peers’ topic and the degree to which you feel that the dimensions clarify the scope of the needs assessment. This will be extremely helpful for your data collection and analysis.
Explain why you have chosen this topic, and how it relates to need change for improvement efforts in your school/community. Include at least 2 sample needs assessment statements in your posting so that you can receive feedback from your peers and check each other for bias or leading statements. As you review the Herdrich model, the Leading Change Handbook and Chapters 3 and 5 in your text you now can understand the process of change involves assessing and breakdown specific tasks depending on the stage of change the initiative requires, and the level of engagement of the stakeholders. Choose one of the models and relate it to the process tools you would use when working with a group to plan, implement, train, or sustain a change initiative. Explain the process tool in preparation for Assignment 3. What reaction do you expect from the group as you facilitate the tool? How will working with adults (fellow colleagues) be different than what you may have experienced in the classroom?
