As you read Hooks, where do you hear her voice? What is it about her voice that draws you in? Pushes you away? Are you captivated by her narrative? How? If not, what about her work puts you off? Second, consider her attitude, how would you describe her attitude? Make use of clear and specific examples from the essay.
we are looking at something a little more esoteric. Last week we looked at form, this week it is feelings. The readings from Zinsser look at the voice, attitude and effort of the writer and how that goes directly to craft. For the next paper, again make use of the definition model of writing:
Zinsser define voice as "quote from Zinsser." I see/don't see this in Hooks when she writes "quote from Hooks." This works/doesn't work for me as voice because (you explain).
Do that again for attitude and then effort.
Keep in mind that this is not a simple opinion paper. Make use of Zinsser’s ideas as you read and negotiate Hooks’ material. (3 pages).
