Dunkin’ Donuts Case
In 2016, workers at many Dunkin’ Donuts franchise locations in Chicago, Illinois filled lawsuits against Dunkin' Donuts. The workers at these locations claimed that the franchisees were stealing their wages since the locations were faking timecards, so they didn’t need to pay overtime to the employees; also, there were reports that the locations were forcing the employees to pay back the company for cash shortages in the register, even though there was no prove that anyone was stealing from the locations. These employees had some of their wages taken away to cover the shortages. This is a major ethical concern that involves not only the franchisees and the employees, but the Dunkin’ Donuts organization. These workers should be refunded the wages that were taken, and they should receive the overtime they weren’t paid
