this is part A: Personal Experience Assumptions and perceptions concerning various factors, which people encounter in their lives, can end up being highly misleading. In most cases, the assumptions people make in their lives are contradicting and they can lead them to making decisions which may come to be untrue in future. Since I was a child, I have led a very precious life under my parents. They provided everything I needed and I could not go to school without my pocket money. Even when I finished high school and moved to another city to get my degree, they were there when I needed them. Life has been very easy to me all through my primary education up to college. Being born in Saudi Arabia, I studied in Al-jubail Industrial College. Throughout my college time, I have been earning seventy one credits as a Chemical Engineering. Through this, I was able to do everything I desired and go to any place I wished. Having a really good family helped me a lot to success at that time. Of course, making good friends helped me to study, live, and succeed. Every minute that I spent with my friends, I feel I am among my family. I thought that even after my college, life would be as easy as it had been. I always thought that I would land into a well paying job like my father and I could drink and eat everything I needed with whoever I wished. In fact, this reflects all my teenage life because I thought that life shall never change to me. I though I would have a lot to do. However, things began to change in my life as I graduated and committed to come to the United States in order to complete my bachelor degree. I have faced some difficulties since I arrived in the United States. Being far away from my family and friends was one of them. Also, living in a new country that has different culture than mine and trying to build relationships with its people were the hardest part. What surprised me a lot was the evaluation of my credits when I arrived in the United States. Although I assumed I had finished seventy one credits, I only ended up getting thirty six of them. I could not believe the challenges I was experiencing. It is during this time that my prediction of living an easy life turned to a different and difficult life. I could not believe if it would be like this for the next four years I would be in the United States. Although I faced a lot of difficulties, I have met many people who helped me a lot through my first days in the United State. I said to myself,` Saudi Arabia is very far from the United States and you came for a specific goal, you should get it`. Of course, things were not very good for me in the first semester, then I began to socialize with friends in the second semester and began to learn things I would not have know without them. I came to realize that leading a good life does not depend on what I get, it is all about how I manage what I have.
