Please read "Rappaccini’s Daughter” and "Young Goodman Brown" by Nathaniel Hawthorne and read the following PowerPoint, hawthorne-2.pptx. Discuss all three of Hawthorne's stories from the perspective of conflict, antagonist, climax, and resolution: who is the protagonist/antagonist in each story, with what is the protagonist in conflict, what is the climactic moment of the conflict, how is the conflict resolved? We've discussed them in class, but this website might also help with some of these terms. Do you see anything in common among these stories?
