You will create a timeline of events that are important to Love Canal and discuss how you would intervene as a public health professional. You will use terms/concepts covered in this class and possibly others to explain your interventions.

Date Posted: 17/09/2018
Category: Health Care
Due Date: 17/09/2018
Instruction
Objectives: • Describe concepts covered in the course in relation to environmental health • Explain how environmental toxins can impact human health • Create a timeline of events around Love Canal • Apply intervention techniques that could have been used to reduce the health effects of Love Canal Overview Imagine you can time travel with all the knowledge you have today back to the 1940’s. Instead of using your knowledge to win the lottery or create new technology you are going to use this knowledge for public health good! You will create a timeline of events that are important to Love Canal and discuss how you would intervene as a public health professional. You will use terms/concepts covered in this class and possibly others to explain your interventions. No matter which method you choose you will all be evaluated the same way for this project. Deliverables You project must include the following components:  A brief history of Love Canal  A timeline of important events that led up to Love Canal and happened during the disaster (You get to choose what you feel are the most important events)  Explain how a public health professional could intervene/prevent these important events from occurring or lessen the impact of the events.  Include how you would communicate to residents of Love Canal about the issues  Ensure you are using terminology and concepts in class to explain each of the above sections.  Provide a reflection of your visit to Love Canal o What did you find interesting? o What was something you learned? o How did you feel being at the location you have learned about in class?
