Personal Brand Assignment
In this assignment, you will read a series of articles, participate in some in-class activities, and conduct independent research to create your own personal brand for employment. Your assignment will include a 5-7 page paper that includes two sections, plus a strengths table and a recorded 30 second Personal Brand elevator pitch.
Part One - Self Assessment Activities
(a) Determine your top values, interests, and desired workplace through the jobZology tool. Write what each of those values means to you.
(b) Complete an online transferable skills activity and list the most energizing skills that you enjoy or do well.
(c) Complete a Strengths Grid. To do this, list your top five strengths and explain how you have used this strength in the past. You should create the strengths grid in chart format.
(d) List and describe your key personality and personal characteristics. If you have difficulty determining these, be to seek input from family and/or friends.
(e) Explain 3-5 unique interests, passions, and/or experiences that shape or influence your path.
Part Two - Create Your Brand
(a) Based on your self-assessment, describe your unique brand (to date) in 3-4 sentences.
(b) How could you visually represent your brand in your employment materials such as your resume, cover letters, and career portfolio?
(c) Describe your ideal employer based on your personal brand and assessment results. Think about characteristics such as location, size of organization, organizational culture, type of work, interactions with co-workers, and workplace dress.
Part Three - Present Your Brand
You will present your 30-second Elevator Pitch to the class. You must dress professionally or Business casual for your presentation as part of this assignment.
