Part 1 :Aitchison, Will (2015).Read Chapter 5 (pp 195-212; 233-234. The rights of law enforcement officers (7th edition). A police officer was criminally charged after he gave a statement about a police-involved shooting. The employer clearly told the employee that he would not be compelled to give any statement and that he could give a voluntary statement only if he wished to do so. He had given the statement voluntarily to the investigator as he wanted to tell his side of the story, and there was no coercion involved. Is the officer entitled to the protections afforded by Garrity? Why or why not? Please point to various aspects of the assigned readings for this week to support your point of view. Next, please point to one aspect of the assigned readings that you found to be of particular interest. Be sure to explain why you found the point to be salient to the topic at hand. Please try to discuss aspects of the readings that have not already been alluded to by your peers. Finally, please come up with one original critical thinking question for your classmates. Part 2: After, reading all three articles for Week Five, please point to one aspect of EACH article that you found be of interest and explain why. Be sure to fully elaborate and discuss how this particular aspect of the article furthers our understanding of terrorism and political violence. It must be evident that you have carefully read and reflected upon all three articles. Next, as you know, even the best articles that are published in peer-reviewed journals are never perfect and lend themselves to constructive criticism. Please identify one weakness, shortcoming, or possible area that could have been elaborated or expanded upon in EACH of the three articles.
