After the civil war there were minor changes. The north and the south parts of America both expanded out. What was the major cause of the happening? Race was something that if played a major in the development of the western region and the expansion of the northern part of America. Even though the racism was huge influence on the north and south regions. You would think that all of it stopped but unfortunately that was no the case. They thought or theory behind this was that the blacks were not human or smart when compared to the whites, when they all worked id the same places and made the money for a living. They also thought the were the best of the two races they thought that nothing of the culture could be over power than theirs. They thought that any involvement of the black race could any thing that they had going would corrupt it. Racism was almost like a religion at this point it had been taught at a very young age and been brought up for years and years its something that the people could not change. No matter if winning that war on not it was more of a way of lie than a lifestyle . Theodore Roosevelt a president even thought blacks should be excluded in volunteer groups because they were not able to think intelligently. Even though he didn't know that was just the way people were raised and brought up in society. I also feel like he was scared of the government would say. which shouldn't of been the case.)
