Lab Activity 1: Motion and Forces Time: 2 hours Concepts Explored: motion, vectors, position, velocity, acceleration, forces, free body diagrams, equilibrium, Newton's laws of motion, coefficient of friction, interpretation of graphical data. Experiment: Students explore motion and forces by dragging blocks of different materials across a surface. The coefficients of static and kinetic friction are determined for each material.
