Make an introductory post of at least 300 words, focusing on a 5-10 line passage from the reading that you think relates to the themes focused on during this week. The reading is Homer's Odessy instead of Homer's Iliad. The assigned books are 1, 5, 9, 11, 21, 23 which can be found from this link. http://johnstoniatexts.x10host.com/homer/odysseytofc.html . This week, hubris (arrogance) and xenia (hospitality) are our themes. These two themes in the Greek view were more complicated than their simple English translations might suggest. Humans who displayed hubris always gained unwelcome attention from the gods, while humans who observed the rules of xenia were respected and appreciated.
