Directions: Please cut and paste the original post from last week, that you intend to respond to within this forum. Then formulate your analytical response. Note, the objective is to be analytical. All students must explain their intellectual position to another students’ original post based on evidence from the various readings, lectures and documentaries. And yes,this week’s readings, lectures and documentaries definitely should be taken into consideration when composing a response. Original Post: Progressivism, Making the World Safe for Democracy, and the Aftermath, 1898-1929 Directions: To formulate your answer to the questions (see below) for the original post you need to use the resources I provided for you in this course (lectures, primary sources, book readings, etc.) Failure to do so will affect your grade accordingly. Then address one or more of the questions below. Consider how Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson changed US relations with the world and domestically reformed gender, race and labor relations. Consider how the progressive movement influenced their leadership styles. Consider how the progressive movement granted political and economic power to women and other groups (e.g., blacks, Jews, Italians, Indians, etc…) What were the advantages and disadvantages of government intervention in the economy during 1900-1929? What were the advantages and disadvantages of US presence in the Caribbean? What were the advantages and disadvantages of the United States entering the Great War? What were the failures and/or successes of Wilsonianism in terms of relations between diverse ethnic groups domestically and internationally? How did foreign ideas (Bolshevism, anarchism, etc.) shape the United States during 1900-1929? What were the advantages and disadvantages of the United States entering the Great War? The US entered the Great War as a neutral party. We did not enter the war until April 1917 because of Germany's submarine warfare. The War was rough on Americans. First of all, we did not have a large enough army to enter the way. We had to draft millions of men to support the allies in the war. Though nationalists hoped that drafting immigrants would help them assimilate better and become true Americans. However, that didn't really happen. Second, the US didn't have enough money to support their endeavors in the War. An advantage to the war would be that the US could use the industrialization to create wartime materials to sell the the allies, which would help fund the involvement in the war. But the US struggled to keep up production for the needs of the war. Another advantage would be that with a bunch of men being drafted into the war, that gave women a chance to get jobs. The biggest disadvantage to US involvement in the war would be the loss of lives. Over 100,000 Americans died because of WW1. Respond to the above post using the instruction provided.
