(Establishing Credibility In my junior year of high school, I got pregnant and any plans I had for the future were changed. C. (Motivation Statement) My experience with deferring my dream of finishing college will hopefully encourag e others not to do the same and tell you a little about myself. D. (Preview of Topic) First I will talk about me after high school. Second, I will talk about my work experience. And finally, I will talk about me going back to school. II. Body A. ( Main Point #1) My life after high school. 1. I decided I wanted to become a nurse. I was taking college courses while working and raising a daughter. 2. The relationship with my daughter’s father ended and he was barely in the picture. I stopped going to school, which I regret now. B. (Main Point #2) I gained work experience, but was never really happy or felt that there was any long - term job security 1. I was laid off twice due to corporate downsizing 2. At my most recent job, the owner sold the company and I was out of a job. C. (Ma in Point #3) Now all of this brings me to where I am today. 1. I am doing what I wish I would’ve done right after high school. 2. The only thing different now is that instead of nursing, I’ve decided to major in radiography. III. Conclusion A. ( Summary Statement) I hope my story and life experience can encourage others to finish college. After high school, I wanted to become a nurse, but I stopped taking classes to work and raise my daughter. I gained experience and moved up in positions, but I never felt like I had a career that I was happy with. After being laid off from several different jobs, I realized it was time to make a change that brought me to the decision to go back to school. B.
