•A four-to six-page essay(1200-1750 words at 1.5 spacing with 1” margins) connecting some of the major assigned readings by comparing/contrasting their main ideas in detail.•The essay should begin with a clear and unified thesis statement which guides everything that follows, and it should conclude with a reference back to the thesis and a short summary of how you have developed it.What new light have you shed on the subject?•The essay will be divided into paragraphs which reflect the progress of your argument, starting a new paragraph when the essay changes focus or moves to consider a new subtopic.•The essay will be edited for clarity and carefully proofread to catch spelling mistakes, confusing grammar, needless extra words, accidentally omitted words, or similar but wrong words substituted by your spellchecker.•You will use your own original words, citing the texts to which you refer by parenthetical page number or chapter number. If you use outside sources (and we don't recommend this) be sure here as well to indicate quoted material with quotation marks and parenthetical page references, and list your outside sources at the end of the essay in a “Works Cited” section according to standard MLA format.
