How well does mainstream occupational health and safety address the issue of workplace carcinogens? What legal and scientific factors have assisted in recognizing work-related cancers? What factors have inhibited its recognition?
In addition to the main topic, the essay should briefly incorporate the following information:
1. How do contemporary occupational health and safety approaches deal with the issue workplace carcinogens?
2. What do mainstream approaches overlook when dealing with work-related cancer?
3. Why are work-related cancers so difficult to identify?
4. Do employers, the state, and workers all have the same view of workplace cancer? If not, what are the motivations for their particular perspective?
5. What role does science play in the recognition of workplace cancer?
6. Is science affected by politics and economics in this matter, and if so, how is it affected?
