Instruction
Find a newly introduced good or service that has not quite reached the main stream market. (Shark Tank has tons of these!) Or create your own idea for a good, service, or business!
Describe the product or business
g. What is it? What is it for? Why is it appealing to customers? What does it offer? What is the customer benefit package?
You are the operations manager in charge of implementing the production and sale of this good, service, or business. Pick one or more portions of the entire supply chain and discuss the way you would implement it in detail.
We have covered several topics in this class:
Strategy, Competitiveness, Productivity
Forecasting
Goods and Service Design, Reliability
Strategic Capacity Planning
Process Selection
Facility Layout
Quality Management
Supply Chain Design
Project Management
Compare your business or product to similar industries.
What businesses have successfully implemented something similar?
What businesses have unsuccessfully implemented something similar? How will you improve upon their weaknesses when it comes to your business or product?
Write a 12-15 page paper regarding as many of these topics as you can cover about your new business or product.
Give a 10 minute presentation regarding one or more of these topics in terms of how you would apply it to the product or business you are presenting. See Assignments for more details on presentation.
Work alone.
Use the key terms and information that we’ve learned in class.
Use APA citations and references.
You have the flexibility to go into as much detail as you want. You can expand upon one aspect of the business in great detail (e.g. explaining the supply chain design in detail for several pages), or you can cover all of the aspects mentioned above to fill several pages. It is up to you!
The rubric for this assignment is posted on canvas. Make sure you read it carefully!!
You must use APA formatting for any information you retrieve from sources outside of your own knowledge! Working together or copying another person’s work is considered plagiarism.
