Question: Compare and contrast the various arguments made against fragmentation in state government. Address the short-term and long-term consequences of fragmentation. Comment on two responses made by your classmates.
Question: What are some alternatives and solutions to fragmentation that help concentrate regional resources? Do you see any disadvantages to the solutions or alternatives that you mentioned?
Responds to post below: at least 150 words. There is a thought that the fragmentation of local governments in a state hold no or little empirical evidence that it hinders economic growth in a state. Then there is notion that local governments collaborating regionally brings upon economic growth. In the short-term fragmentation such as the case in Pennsylvania, brings upon very self sustainable cities and counties. Now in the long-term they because unable to growth as rapidly as needed and are at fault of their own. There is no support for economic digression and they face hardships such as unemployment and a lack of revenue at greater rates.
