  • Out-of-class Assignment: Field Research #1. You are to post or put in an attached document either a set of 5-6 interview questions or 5-8 survey questions. (If you do a survey, you might want to consider using SurveyMonkey.) Specifically, as an introduction to your interview questions or survey questions, you need to state (1) how either relates to your Essay Four issue; and (2) why the two people, you interview, or why the group of people, you survey, will contribute to your understanding of the Essay Four issue. Hint: Consider your research when writing our questions for the interview or survey. Also, consider gathering information relevant to your issue’s problem and/or solution. And avoid general questions like: “What do you think an owner of a business can do to go green?” Try something like this: “What measurable practices has your company practiced or implemented to reduce the use of paper in your daily operations?”

  • Assignment Sheet for Essay Four: Proposal and Argument Topic Write about a current social, ethical, or environmental issue that concerns or interests you. You do NOT have to write about an environmental issue; you may write about a social or ethical issue. You are NOT required to relate the social, ethical, or environmental issue to your major. You can NOT use your research from Essay Two or Three to complete Essay Four. (This should be new research.) Once you have chosen your contemporary social, ethical, or environmental issue, you need to provide the “roots of the problem” and propose a solution to the problem. You can NOT work on global warming (too general) or alternative fuel solutions (unless you have something insightful of your own to propose). Choose an issue that is more specific (and that may or may NOT relate to your major; it’s your choice).
    User_19051 | Dec 05, 2018, 01:01 AM
  • You can choose any social, ethical, or environmental issue that interests you. For example, you can discuss the overwhelming or challenging aspects of recycling; it can be the roles of technology in creating further consumption; or it can be as small as losing natural places in your neighborhood. Regardless of the scope of the problem, you would want to choose an issue that you can handle in 1,000 words or so. In the beginning of the essay, describe what the problem is, the scope/scale of the problem, and the causes of the problem(s). You will then propose solutions to the problem. As always in the spirit of intellectual freedom, you are welcome to disagree with the writers and their opinions. I grade the essays based on how well your proposal is presented.

    Vinniax | Dec 05, 2018, 01:02 AM
  • Multiple Source Essay’s Beginning Write a thesis. Describe, in sufficient detail, what the problem is and why it concerns you or should concern the general public. You should provide the history of the problem, discuss its historical or cultural significance, and mention the scale or scope of the problem. (Recent research from ProQuest might be helpful.) You may also want to consider when you first learned about this problem and when and why you became concerned. Consider looking into the economic significance of the problem and discuss what kind of people, in regards to their gender, race, and class, would be most likely impacted by it. You can also discuss how this issue reflects a consumption-driven society or unethical practices some segments of the society practice. You should, briefly, project how the near future would be if no immediate action were taken.
    User_19051 | Dec 05, 2018, 01:02 AM
  • Provide a synopsis (i.e., a brief summary) of your proposed solutions. You should bring in authorities on this issue who can explain and verify the significance of the problem. You may want to discuss existing solutions (if any) and explain why those solutions are not working well. Multiple Source Essay’s Middle? Consider using headings to organize this paper. If so, then review Purdue’s OWL, “APA Headings and Seriation” at https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/16/. Focus on proposing and explaining your solutions. Be sure that your solutions are feasible and practical. (For instance, over-turning the government is not feasible or practical, nor is burning down Wal-Mart stores.) Your conclusion should include a call for action. You may even project what the future may bring if your solutions are followed (or not).
    User_19051 | Dec 05, 2018, 01:03 AM
  • Do not assume your reader’s knowledge of the problem. Choose a subject that you can discuss intelligently and creatively. Write about a problem that you know well or a problem that research sources can well define. Multiple Source Essay’s Ending? Write a “creative” ending (and do NOT re-state the thesis, word-for-word). Consider offering a “mini” story to illustrate your solution, and/or suggesting an new implication or consequence of your solution, and/or writing a “call to action.” (Avoid simply summarizing your main points in your conclusion.)

  • Research Requirement All WRIT 112 students are to experience field research: interviews and surveys are the most common forms of field research. But you may want to do an observation. So, for Essay Four, you are to interview a person (or people) in your field or (2) survey a group of people (for example, co-workers, friends, relatives, etc.), or (3) observe a situation that’s relevant to your paper. Interviews and Surveys You will cite your interviews or survey as a source in the body of the paper and in the Reference page. Some interviews or surveys may be more about the issue’s problem; others more about the issue’s solutions. Some surveys and interviews will be about both: cite your survey or interview where appropriate. Also, you may cite such more than once (and you may present survey results as a table or chart).
    User_19051 | Dec 05, 2018, 01:04 AM
  • See “Assignment Calendar” for the details about conducting an interview and/or applying a survey. If you would like to do an observation, please talk to Professor Rich. Length and Format Requirements 1,000 words minimum. First Page. On your first page, have all the identifying information on the LEFT hand corner: Your Name Dr. Richard Matzen WRIT112: Essay Two Due Date Margins, font, line spacing. Use double-spaced, one-inch margins on all sides, 12-point regular font (no bold), and Times New Roman or similar fonts. APA Format. Essays that do not follow the APA format, regarding in-text citations and Reference page, will be either returned without a grade or suffer a letter grade reduction, depending on the types of APA errors made. Please take great care to avoid plagiarism and attribute your sources properly according to the APA requirements.
    User_19051 | Dec 05, 2018, 01:05 AM
  • Required four, minimum sources. A Interview or survey. One website. Two feature length articles (1,500 1,000 words or more) from a newspaper, or magazine, or academic journal. Avoid (if not eliminate) block quotes when using your sources! If you really have to, use ONLY one or two block quotes for the entire essay. Reference page. According to APA, it should come after the essay and on a new page. You may want to consider calling the Woodbury Library – the reference desk 818.252-5201 – and asking for assistance in locating the best two feature length articles for your paper.

  • This is an entirely new paper right? I uploaded another essay and had some idiot do it. I asked him if there was any plagiarism and he stated no. After I uploaded the file to the university website it came back as a 100% match with the same paper which was submitted to my university in March. I can be expelled! I need to make sure this is legit and never been used before I upload it.
    User_19051 | Dec 06, 2018, 05:04 AM
  • no plagiarism
    Vinniax | Dec 06, 2018, 05:24 AM
  • Has this paper ever been given to another student??? It will pull as a match if this was ever used in the past. I will not release payment until I upload it to the website. Please be honest before I upload it. I'm already running a risk of being expelled.
