1. Understand disintermediation (the delivery of products and services by intervening in the traditional flow of good). How have Google and Amazon disrupted not only bricks and mortar marketplace but internet marketing? The text made reference to the fact that companies must always be evolving, innovation must be a part of their plan. The reason why Amazon and Goggle has been successful is because they have done a few things well. 1. They are constantly moving forward finding ways to stay ahead of the curve by being innovative. 2. They carefully monitor what their competition are doing, and continuously improving their marketing values and strategies to keep their customers engaged. 3. They also find ways to satisfy their employees, stock holders, suppliers and channel their partners in the process. (Kotler, P.T. & Keller, K.L. (2016).
2. How does marketing intelligence (knowledge of your customers wants and needs) help drive marketing strategy?
3. In regards to collecting information and forecasting demand, What has Wal-Mart done well (and differently) than other companies like Target, K-Mart, Sears? Marketing intelligence is very crucial in developing what your customer's needs are, where to locate your store, and culture to cater to. What Walmart has done well is using marketing intelligence to focus on its customers. They pay close attention to what you are looking at when you visit their sights, and what is most popular. They also place their stores into areas that are well populated. They also focuses on pricing and affordability, this done through marketing intelligence, they are very adaptable to the changes that takes place in the market. One example was the purchase of an online company in New Jersey that became there best competition against Amazon. They are always looking at what their competitors are doing and find ways to compete. One of Walmart other innovative idea, was competing with super markets by offering food products at their stores, so customers can have a one stop shop for almost anything they want without have to go somewhere else. They have used marketing intelligence to their advantage.
