Instruction
Note: Check with your teacher about conducting a group discussion and how to form a group, if you conduct one.
Form a discussion group of three or four of your peers or classmates. Be sure to take notes of what is discussed, because you will refer to your notes to write a summary of the discussion. The discussion should last no more than fifteen minutes.
In your discussion, explain how to fill in the ABC chart that you created in Viewing Activity 2. Explain what information is entered under each column of the chart. Answer any questions your peers ask about the chart.
Then, ask the members of the group the following questions:
Do you think anyone could use a chart like this to monitor his or her own behavior?
How do you think the chart could be used personally to monitor one’s own behavior?
How do you think the chart could help you learn how to respond more constructively when you get triggered by something that happens or something someone says?
For more information on conducting Write three to four paragraphs summarizing what was discussed in your group.
