We seem to be on the brink of a political culture war here in the U.S. New political ideologies and groups seem to spring up every week, each with their own idea on how to bring about fairness and social change. Consider the types of ideology discussed in the chapter (listed below as well) and how these ideologies explain wealth distribution inequities, social change and movement, variances in social values, racial inequality and so on. Which political ideology, based on your research, works best to solve racial, class and economic differences? Explain why and give examples. After you've chosen the ideology, consider wether or not there would still be a group that felt left out and marginalized in your new form of government? Political Ideologies Marxist Ideology: An ideology that supports control of the government on behalf of the working class and the elimination of significant income differences Social Democratic: An ideology that traditionally supported nationalization of industry but today focuses more on maintaining welfare state protections. Progressive: An ideology that supports an active role for government in income redistribution through use of taxes and government progress. Conservative: An ideology that advocates minimal regulation of the economy and decreased emphasis on income redistribution. Libertarian: An ideology that seeks even more limited government in all facets of society than that promoted by conservatives. Reactionary: An ideology that advocates a return to traditional social arrangements, including those that economically privilege one group over another. Reminder: Cite your sources.
