3.Has Toyota followed the Form or Function paradigm?
4. Please respond to the following:Companies can either develop new products or can in fact buy other companies that competes in the same industry. We in fact have purchased many brands some work and some did not. Two brand that worked very well for PepsiCo was purchasing the Gatorade and Sobe brands. Return on Investments for these products indeed paid off. The Gatorade owns the sports drink category 75% to 25%. The Gatorade was the key to the non-carbonated market since that is the direction for many CSD companies like Coca Cola, Dr.Pepper Snapple Grouping etc. All of these companies knew that the customers were moving away from soft drinks and toward non-carbonated brands. On the other hand, the Coca Cola had to compete with PepsiCo and immediately develop its own brand called Powerade But, the brand still is not a major player in the sports category. However, purchasing Monster Energy drink company was right on the spot for the company. Recently, they in fact took the leadership away from Redbull. The fact is that, make or buy is not guaranteed that it would work. The plan can go in either direction. Without doubt it is a risk and risk sometimes you must take. Kotler, P. & Keller, K. (2007).
