Responds 1:
A current policy that exists in Arizona is an Open enrollment policy in the Arizona school system. While there are many pros and cons of this policy, it must be identified how this implemented. Through theories of politics which include elite, group, and rational choice should all be looked at as possibilities in assisting with implementation. This falls under the group” theory of politics considering this became formalized in a public and group setting (Dye, 2017). The policy or origination does not appeal to me but the state of public education, while poor already, was being taken advantage of further by excuse making to move children based on loopholes. Even though there may be a slight form of “elite” theory in this policy, the values actually do represent the community values. As I stated this is not a policy I feel is right for many reasons, but can definitely be improved upon. Based on demographics, there are many differences that can influence children’s behaviors and ideology. But from a policy standpoint, this does alleviate many loopholes that people were taking advantage of prior to this. Furthermore, it is important not to go with the status quo simply because it is the easy way out.
