A written and oral report on a translation project. need it in 15 hours.

Date Posted: 17/02/2019
Category: English
Due Date: 18/02/2019
Instruction
• A written and oral report on a translation project. Students translate a text from another language or an older or exotic variant of English, discuss the linguistic changes that were involved in the translation, and compare their translations to other translations. Procedure: Make two translations of a passage (plus or minus 200 words) from a non-native language or from an old or exotic form of English (old = Shakespeare or earlier; exotic = a dialect like Gullah). The first translation should be word for word and as literal as possible—the sort of translation that a machine might make. The second translation should re-render the text into standard American English. Then compare your translation to an existing translation (notice that your choice of passage should be based in part on the existence of other translations; if you want an exception to this rule, consult the instructor). Your paper and report should reflect on the changes you had to make to the original text—in word choice, but also in semantic overtones, in syntactic structure, and in rhetorical impact; it should also note and explain differences between your translation and an existing one.
