Instruction
1. Get a photo. use an image you've found online. Please attach it to your assignment.
2. Write a paragraph explaining why you think your photo captures a character or a setting worthy of a story. NOTE: Do NOT write a story here; simply "discuss" a) the character/s (the person/s in the photo who could become fictional people, i.e., "characters") and b) setting (where the "place," fictional or real, might be). -- what people and places look like (sight). Don't forget the other senses, too: hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling. Really pay attention to the senses and try to put down in words as many as you can so that you create a "word picture" for the reader.

3. Now I'm asking you to actually try your hand at writing a little story. This assignment should be prose (i.e., sentences and paragraphs, not lines/stanzas). , so here's where you'll start, with this prompt: Someone answers their phone but the caller has the wrong number. Write a story in which the call, rather than ending there, continues. What might the consequences be? (Aim for about 200 words)
