Instruction
PART 1-a
1. Using information from Talking to Children About Death Related Issues and the Sesame Street video, create a sample dialogue to talk to a child about death and their experience following a loss. Consider what questions the child might ask and how your approach may or may not differ based on his/her relationship with the person who died, specifics of the loss, and the developmental level of the child. Review a sample activity mentioned in this week's content you might use to help the child deal with his/her grief. (300 words)
2. Choose a developmental level (i.e., preschool, elementary, middle school) and describe how a child at that level may experience, think about & understand, and respond to a loss (emotionally and behaviorally). What are some examples of protective factors to promote healthy grieving in the child? How would a counselor tailor their approach to assist a child at this stage of development? (300 words)
