The purpose of this assignment is to practice the skills you have developed to write a clear thesis, to organize your ideas and evidence using an outline, and to do an analysis of a primary source using arguments written in your own words. Link to document --> http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/disp_textbook.cfm?smtID=3&psid=4051 Write an essay about the above document, "A Plea for Annexation," by John Stevens. Develop a thesis about what this document shows us about American imperialism. Develop at least three points based on the document that support your thesis, and use evidence from the text written in your own words. DO NOT USE ANY DIRECT QUOTES! Finally, write a conclusion that ties your whole argument together. You must also use an outline to organize your essay, and turn that outline in as well. Checklist/rubric: Header info with name block and title - 5 pts Proofread, in academic (not informal) writing style - 10 pts Outline format - 15 pts Thesis - 20 pts Three supporting points - 40 pts Conclusion - 10 pts about the attached file
