I ask you to think about the nature of intellect, mental illness and self-determination.
Social Workers are called upon to work with individuals within the client's cultural context and to advocate for those clients, even when they find themselves challenged by events and expectations outside of their own native context. While the construct of a Zombie seems perhaps ridiculous, when we are faced with a person far outside our own cultural context and personal frame of reference, we may have no idea how to appropriately advocate for them. There are times, especially in some areas of practice, when virtually everyone who comes in the door for service may seem to us to be a Zombie for how little we may imagine we have in common with them, and for how their life context challenges our understanding (setting aside for now that Zombies are, technically, dead.)
