Instruction
This is my midterm self care project for my women studies class. The activity I have chosen to do was staying off my social media accounts for a two week span because I felt very distracted, I wasn't feeling well mentally and felt like I needed to take a break because I was constantly comparing myself to other peoples lives on social media. I also kept a daily journal about it and I talked about how staying off my social media helped me to realize that there can be a healthy balance of social media time. I also discovered that I was using social media as a way to keep myself occupied and not bored instead of listening to my body and emotions.
I have listed the instructions below on how to do this assignment. Please use PubMed to find 2 scholars sources about how social media can effect people in different ways and incorporate that in the analysis and use direct quotes. This assignment also requires 2 feminist scholarly sources about self care and whatever else you can find that relates to this assignment. Please provide a work cited page. This assignment must be in MLA style or APA. Whichever you prefer.
The middle of the semester is often a stressful time for college students. This is why your
assignment is a 2-week Self-Care Project. You get to decide on one self-care activity that you will undertake every
single day for a 2-week period. You can choose the exact start and end date, but it must span 14 consecutive days
from Thursday, October 4 – Saturday, October 20th. During this time, you will not only do your activity, but also
keep a Daily Self-Care Journal about your experiences with the activity, which I will collect every day in class. You
will write up a 4-5 page paper about your chosen activity and your experience doing this activity daily for two weeks.
You must also link your discussion to scholarly literature, including class texts. Your paper will have the following
structure:
Intro: 1-page explanation of what activity you chose and why you chose this activity.
Literature Review: 1-2 page discussion of the literatures on the topic. Must use direct quotations from at
least 2 sources on PubMed and 2 in-class sources.
Auto-ethnography: 1-2 page discussion and analysis of your experience based on your daily journal entry
about this activity as well as the research. Include your full journal at the end as an appendix.
Conclusion: Quickly sums up argument & analysis. Highlights what you learned from doing the project.
