Student#1: A successful communication is a key ingredient for effective organizational change management.
Management is nothing without leadership and for that both are needed for organizational change. Yes, they do have different roles playing in business like leadership plays a role in change, transformation, execution while management plays a role in planning, controlling, and order.
Effective communication is defined two ways information sharing and receiving message They both are easily understood by both receiving party. Effective communication is important within the business. It can also help to further good working relationships between you and your staff which can be improved by moral and efficient.
Now to talk about different types of communications, there is written communication, oral communication, non-verbal communication, and interpersonal communication. Written communication is illustrated in this way, management explains through memos, via mail, and letter, etc. Verbal communication refers to any noises, sounds that are made when you are trying to get a message across to other person. For example, “Do you know what time it is?” and the reply is “Hhmm!” this is verbal communication. Lastly, interpersonal communication is the process by which people exchange information through verbal and nonverbal messages for instance, ability to listen and understand, problem solving, and decision making.
In addition, roles of communication play a necessary role in human life, it's not only to facilitate the process of sharing information and knowledge but also helps to develop relationships with personal and professional life. First role i personally feel is exchanging information between two or more parties. Secondly, enhancing employees satisfaction by mutual understanding between workers and management. Lastly, achieving goals which helps employes at all levels to be responsive and alert.
Now to further discuss about communication, communication climate is a tone in which relationship is expressed by the verbal and nonverbal messages between people. The communication is created by the way people feel about each other and it can be done both positively and negatively. In example, positive communication climate is when management brings out a discussion and workers have the right to be open minded and ask questions and give feedbacks as well as speak to one another and talk about more ways to enhance the business. Opposite to that is negative communication climate where it’s difficult for people to give or take information and take action. Therefore, they are less willing to ask questions, or offer ideas and feedback, and are more likely to wait and see what happens. The accuracy of the communication declines and interpersonal relationships are less effective in a negative communication climate.
A few communication climates i would like to improve my chances to implement recommendations towards organizational changes are face to face personal communication which can help by allowing interactions between speaker and recipients to clarify any doubts. The speaker can evaluate whether an audience has received his message as intended and ask or answer follow-up questions. Another is mobile communication, where some may not like the face to face communication and may want a more personal and private communication because a mobile channel allows us to exchange and give the recipient the added benefit of interpreting the speaker's tone along with the message, and what i personally like is that it saves time.
In conclusion, managing a business through communication organization is a key role between management and employees and without effective communication the company will not benefit growth and success.
Student#2: Change management is the management type that deals with any sort of transition or transformation in an organization’s processes and technologies. It focusses on the overall goal of change of a specific domain. The purpose of this management is to acquire and implement the strategies and plans that can bring some sort of desired change in an organization. It basically controls the change and further, implement the strategies to make the changes within an organization. It also helps the people who are working in an organization to adapt to the changes made in the company. These strategies have the structured pattern that is made up for requesting the change related to any sort of thing in an organization. This also looks after the responding mechanisms that follow the requests related to change coming from the employee’s side as well (Rouse n.d.).
Key Ingredients of the Change management
The change management is dependent on many factors that include the operations of adjustments and replacement in the peaceful manner. The change should be done under the consideration of all the employers and employees in order to have the effective results. The factors that are important for the change management are active executive support, clear vision, employee participation, constant communication, and change management leadership. these factors are the most important factors in bringing up the change in an organization (Shmula, 2017).
Role of Employee in Change Management
The participation of employee and his/her engagement is the most important in any kind of change. Because the change is totally dependent on the force of the organization somehow. Employees are the people who will maintain the changes and work with the prior strategies. It is seen that when a company undergoes any sort of change, it affects everybody in the company because people’s work pattern and responsibilities change with any transition in the organization. It is important for employees to understand the vision of the change, the associated direction, and the reasons behind the change. Because any kind of project needs the active participants and that is why the employee’s role is vital in the change management.
Constant Communication for Change Management
Change management is somehow a subpart of the people management. Any change requires the people according to the type of change. The change is only possible if the participants are active with the idea and contributing to the change in an active manner. Change requires the constant communication and it is surely a key ingredient in any change that is occurring in an organization. Each organization wants to attain the profitability and wants to make a number of decisions to attain a specific goal.
But every time it is not important that everybody in the organization will second the change. Some might find the change visionless and sometimes it might be hard for the people to digest the change. So, it’s important to have the proper communication with the employees before making the change to ask whether they are okay with the change or not. Communication helps in sharing the information and responses that can be helpful in the process of change and might give the new idea which might be useful for the venture.
Change Management Leadership
The change management needs a lot of support from the executive and the higher authorities i.e. managers. Because change is something that will affect each one in an organization or in the domain in an adverse manner. The management plays an important role as the management hold all the authority to make the changes.
If I would be a manager of any organization and there would be a demand for change in the organization, I will look after the demand and need for the change as well as the employees, that if they are fine with the prior changes because they are the only people who will have to work for the organization. I would organize the conferences and the sessions to know their points and will take up the decision on the basis of the critical thinking on prior basis.
