Instruction
These are the questions you will need to answer:
1. Discuss the powers of the national government, its limitations, and its relationship to the States (make sure to include discussion on delegated powers, concurrent powers, limitations to the states, and national supremacy among other discussion points).
2. Discuss the influence of the United States Supreme Court on the course of our country’s social, political, and economic history (hint: this is the impact of court decision making on Federalism and the historic periods).
Discuss the two major crises of Federalism
3. Discuss the nature and evolution of US Federalism through a historical perspective. (Make sure to include discussion on the crises, the types of federalism, and how can it be located in the US Constitution).
4. Discuss thoroughly the nature and main principles/types of law based on our lecture. Compare and contrast the properties and elements of civil and criminal law; make sure to identify and discuss differences and similarities (Mr. Demerjian notes and lecture).
5. The dual nature of our court system: Federalism in the Judiciary and the cycle of a case within the Judicial system. Make sure to discuss jurisdiction, federal question, diversity, etc. (Mr. Demerjian notes and Lecture).
