  • My single-subject design for this would be to have a participant in a room taking a test. Once the participant turns in the test it would be graded. The participant would be able to see me grading the test from their desk. I would then inform the participant that they failed the test and that they would need to retake it. Every other test an annoying sound would be added in the background. This would happen ten times; five with no distraction and five with the sound; building up the stress levels of the participant. The goal or the end results that I would be looking for is how the participant shows adjustment disorder and does the noise make the stress worse. I would document the time of the test taking, the reaction every time the participant is informed of failing and what was the symptom of the adjustment disorder. I would also want to know how or what helped the participant to cope with the symptom; this would also be documented for the study.
