Instruction
It is important for counselors to remain current with social and political issues that relate to mental health professions and to advocate for those that would positively affect mental health services for constituents. Do some research, and look for information about legislative, policy, and political agendas that might be circulating through your community and state. Then, consider the following questions: What are those agendas? What funding issues related to mental health services in school and agencies are being discussed? What legislative advancements related to the delivery of mental health services is your state government considering? What might you be able to do to further the discussions and to give voice to counseling professionals? Don't forget to subscribe to your own thread so that you will know when others have responded to your post. Additionally, make sure that you provide responses for at least three of your peers. To earn all possible points for the assignment, all posts (i.e., your initial post and all three responses to peers) must be substantive. Refer to the course syllabus for the response elements that constitute a substantive response.
