Instruction
The purpose of this week's discussion board assignment is to help you scrutinize your current allocations of time. A satisfactory life is one that entails balance, with sufficient time devoted to the activities/tasks that reflect your values and priorities.
This exercise will aid you in evaluating the extent to which you currently are living a complete and balanced life. The exercise comprises three parts.
Part 1: Identify at least five core values/priorities
Part 2: Create a Life Pie
Part 3: Reflect on the Life Pie that you created
To complete Part 1, follow these steps:
*Think about the things that are most important to you in life. These are your core values/priorities. If you find that identifying your core values is a struggle, then click on this attached document titled "Values Exercise": Values Exercise.pdf . The document presents a 3-step process to help you identify core values.
*Compile a list of at least five core values/priorities that you identified.
To complete Part 2, follow these steps:
*On a blank piece of paper, draw a large circle to represent your life.
*Place a small circle in the middle to represent you. Label the small circle with your first name.
*Thinking of your life as a pie, divide the circle into slices, and label the slices to illustrate the amount of time that you spend engaged in each of your
regular activities. Some of the slices that people commonly include are: work, learning, family activities, fun and recreation, physical and emotional self-
care, spiritual activities, and time with friends.
To complete Part 3, reflect on the Life Pie that you created, and respond to all of the following questions:
Am I living a balanced life?
Am I involved in too many activities?
Are there areas of my life that need attention?
Are the priorities and values that I identified in Part 1 reflected in this allocation of time?
What changes do I want to make?
What is one commitment that I can make now to shift the balance toward what I want for my life?
In your initial discussion post, include a list of the core values/priorities that you identified for Part 1, a photo of the Life Pie that you created for Part 2, and your responses to the questions that you answered for Part 3.
*******Additionally, make sure that you provide responses for at least three of your peers.*********
To earn all possible points for the assignments, all posts (i.e., your initial post and all three responses to peers) must be substantive. Refer to the course syllabus for the response elements that constitute a substantive response.
