Visual basic programming challenge: Rainfall Statistics. I need help creating an application that will allow a user to input the amount of rainfall for each month of the year (12). The application should sum the total rainfall and display it. It should also calculate the average rainfall and display the result. I can code the 'Clear' and 'Exit' event handlers.   • Perfect. One question - where you have, for example, 'textbox12.text' I can change those to reflect the naming convention I used in my GUI, correct? For example, I used txtJan.Text, txtFeb.Text, etc.

  • Yes sure.. you have to change the "Name" property of the textbox and use the same name while referring to it.

  • Dim and Private work the same, though the common convention is to use Private at the module level, and Dim at the Sub/Function level. You can try changing it to Dim .. It should not affect anything.

  • I also see that used a slightly different statement for incrementing the month variable. You used sum = sum + intMonths(count). Would this work the same: intCount +=1

  • sum += intMonths(count) is same as sum = sum + intMonths(count)
