Write a flash fiction story based on photo provided 435-500 words maximum!!
1) Include VIVID DESCRIPTIONS: literary devices, strong verbs, showing not telling, vivid adjectives and adverbs.
2) Make your character COME ALIVE: show their thoughts and feelings, use adverbs to show emotions, use the techniques discussed to describe their physical attributes, use DIALOGUE
3) Your story must have a conflict that resolves in some way.

Character Development:
- Character is 3-dimensional (What qualities give you a 3-dimensional character?)
- Has a believable epiphany
- Change is either static, jumping or slowly rising
Arrangement of Ideas:
- Clearly fits within a Narrative Arc. Each element of the story arc should not be present as this is a snap shot of a scene within a story. (You may find it helpful to storyboard the full Narrative Arc, even though you will only submit the epiphany scene from your story.)
- Location within the Narrative Arc for character's epiphany is well-chosen.
- Story does not contain any extra scenes, paragraphs, phrases, characters or sentences.
Introduction:
- Contains appropriate foreshadowing. This is particularly key in flash writing as the reader ought to be able to anticipate what might follow your scene.
- Establishes genre of story
- Characters, setting and time period established quickly without telling.
Middle:
- Contains one of the five types of conflict: man vs man, man vs nature, man vs self, man vs society, or man vs destiny.
- Contains one of the four types of suspense: ticking clock, isolation, loss of options, stakes are raised
- Gives us new insight into the main character(s)
Conclusion:
- Contains a foreshadowed resolution (Mystery and inspired curiosity are a type of resolution).
- New characters are not introduced at the very end
- Consistent style and voice throughout flash writing
- Gimmicks or clichés are avoided
Grammar and Mechanics:
-Maintains consistency in parallelism
-Complete sentences (no run-ons or fragments)
-Correct use of commas
-Antecedent referents are clear
-No homophone, homonym, or heteronym mistakes
- Pronouns and antecedents are consistent in number.
