Look up your local (or any) law enforcement agency online and compare their mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures to the ones presented in the chapter. What role does studying ethics play in carrying out these roles in law enforcement? 2. Why does it matter whether or not law enforcement professionals maintain consistently high levels of ethical behavior? 3. What are the various pros and cons of allowing law enforcement officers wide discretion? 4. What sorts of measures do you think would keep a police officer from engaging in unethical behavior while on the job? 5. One of the current issues in law enforcement is the use of force. Watch the various videos listed below and state your informed opinion of whether or not the forced used was appropriate and/or ethical in each video. Be sure to fully explain and support your informed opinion.
