How was it resolved? How did the settlement arrived at in the 1850 Compromise differ from the settlement in the 1820 Compromise? List at least two significant differences and discuss them. 2.What caused the U.S.-Mexico War (1846-48)? Discuss three significant consequences of the war for the U.S. and discuss them at some length. Show us you've read our textbook. Use your own words throughout. 3.What was the impact of U.S. cotton production both internationally and domestically in the period from 1800 to 1860? List three impacts and discuss each one separately. 4.Imagine that you're talking with your friend about the subject of the assigned chapters, and your friend, incredulous, exclaims: "Why fight a war over cotton?"
