Create a six-cell comic strip. After reading this week's Lecture, sketch a six-cell comic strip storyboard and then create the comic in Illustrator. The comic MUST be original, full color, and created completely in Illustrator. Please complete the steps below. ARTBOARD SIZE: One artboard at 17" x 11" inches Deliverables A sketch of the storyboard for the comic is saved as a .jpg file. A copy of the completed comic is done in Illustrator and saved as both .ai and .jpg formats. Required Software Adobe Illustrator CC This software is part of Adobe Creative Cloud.Please use a personal copy or the complimentary Adobe Creative Cloud subscription provided by DeVry. Lab Steps STEP 1: Download and Sketch the Storyboard 1.1 Download these two files' storyboard sketch template (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. and Illustrator storyboard template (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. 1.2 Save these files to a location on your computer. 1.3 Open the storyboard sketch template in Illustrator. You can either draw your comic in Illustrator or print the sketch template and hand draw the comic. 1.4 The comic and characters you create MUST be unique and original. The story that happens in the comic is up to you. You'll want to use the note space to write out what is happening in your sketch. 1.5 When you have completed your sketch, you can scan the comic or take a photo of the sketch using your smart phone. 1.6 Save this graphic to your desktop. STEP 2: Import the Sketch into Illustrator and Create the Comic 2.1 Open the storyboard template in Illustrator. You can also open your storyboard sketch file if you would like to trace your sketch. 2.2 Lock the Layer 1 and create a new layer. 2.3 Make sure you are on the new layer that you created. 2.4 Using the Pen tool, create your comic. You can use the shape tool to create a bubble for any text that you'd like to add. Spend as much time as you need, and then move on to the next step. 2.5 After you have created the comic, lock the current layer that you are on. 2.6 Save your Illustrator file as lastname_firstnamew5.ai. 2.7 Save a copy of your Illustrator file as a JPEG file. 2.7.1 Go to File > Export. 2.7.2 Name the file lastname_firstnamew5.jpg. 2.7.3 Select JPEG from Save as File Type list. 2.7.4 Check Use Artboards. 2.7.5 Click Export. STEP 3: Submit 3.1 Compress the Ai and JPEG files into a single .zip file. Make sure to include your sketch storyboard in addition to your comic that you created in Illustrator.
