This is peer observation of a teacher. If you are not familiar with teaching and observing please do not bid on this assignment.

Date Posted: 07/06/2019
Category: Education
Due Date: 14/06/2019
Instruction
Paper on Observing Teacher 5 to 7 pages Get permission from teacher to observe him or her, early in course. Do Not Wait Too Long! I prefer an observation of 45 minutes, but will accept as few as 30 minutes and as many as 60. I prefer a pre-school through 12th grade observation but am flexible if you want to observe in another setting. Please get permission for other setting in advance. Part 1 (one third of grade) . Two pages. Describe the pre-observation meeting with the teacher you are observing. Record his or her name, school, grade level and subject to be observed, date when you met and length of meeting. You do NOT have to observe a myriad of things, although, if you wish, you may use an instrument that looks at many things. You may use your own district’s observation instrument, but you do not have to. Or, you both may agree that you will zero in on just a few things to look at and record when you observe. You could, for example, only record the kinds of questions the teacher asks. Or, you could record how often each student is called upon, or where the teacher walks throughout the time observed. Work with your teacher to see if there is an area that he/she would like to get feedback about. See Chapter 12 for ideas! Pre-observation conferences are also a time for the teacher to inform you about the class. Are there any special things you should know about particular students or about the teacher’s style or methods before you observe? This is the time for the teacher to fill you in! Please ask the teacher to have a lesson plan and a student seating chart prepared for you for the lesson that you will observe. Part 2 (one third of grade). Pages will vary. Collect the lesson plan and seating chart. Be sure to record teacher’s name, school, grade level, subject taught and time observation started and ended. Observe the lesson and record your observations. The format you may use varies widely! Part 3 (one third of grade) Two to three pages Read “6 Steps to Effective Feedback Conversation Model from UnCommon Schools. This will give you ideas about how to run the post-observation conference, which should run from 20 to 45 minutes.
