This paper is not a research paper. This paper is your position paper. As in, what is (are) the foundation(s) of your ethical beliefs. What are the underpinnings of your decision making when you are faced with an ethical dilemma? What is your Ethical Position??? You ARE NOT taking a position on one issue, rather you are describing the underpinnings of all of your beliefs.
It is not my place to judge what your beliefs are - however - it is my place to judge the rationale for your decision making criteria. I want to know what you stand for/where your line in the sand is/what you will use for making those crucial decisions when you have to make them.
Our textbook specifically takes you through a consideration of the foundations of your beliefs, you should consider it an main source.
Research, and experience, shows that many people who make unethical choices do so because they are, quite often, caught up in the moment/circumstances - and that they do not have the time to reflect on what really matters to them. Here is your chance to do this now.
While this position paper can call on anything (perhaps, for example, you decide to worship the devil) - in addition to outlining what your ethical criteria are you must also
a) specifically reference your ELI (Ethical Lens Inventory) Be sure to note whether you chose to examine your personal values, your professional values, or your organizational values - and why.
b) give some examples of your ethic in action using current real world examples (if you were in this situation, how would your ethical position demand you act?).
For example, if you were offered a job at a company that exploited the environment would you take it? If you were offered a gift (some would say a bribe) from a salesperson would you keep it?
You might reference any ethical codes of conduct for the company you work for (if you do), or a company you would like to work for, or an industry you would like to work in.
