Please write a one-page, four-paragraph essay on what you believe to be the biggest threat to civil liberties or civil rights in the U.S. at the present. You only need to pick one of the following “threats” as the focus of your essay:
1. Donald Trump
2. The mainstream media, the so-called “enemy of the people”
3. Immigrants or foreigners in the U.S.
Important:
• Please write an essay of one-page, single-space and with four paragraphs. (Exceeding one page will lead to an F score. Please make sure that you limit your essay to one-page, non-negotiable. Please use Times New Roman and font size 11. Failure to use this shall also lead to an F score.
• Please define civil liberties and choose one liberty, say freedom of speech or gun right or right to fair and open trial if you choose civil liberties as your focus of your essay. Or,if you choose civil rights as your focus, you need to define civil rights and pick one civil rights issue, say racial discrimination, gender discrimination, racism, or discrimination against people of Muslim or other nonwhite background, as your focus. If you choose racism as the opposite of civil rights, you need to define what racism is all about and what manifestations it has.
• Please divide your essay into four paragraphs
o Paragraph one: Introduction (telling the readers what you are writing about in this short essay and why you write about it. What are you looking at to make your point? And, why you choose the method to look at the issue?)
o Paragraph two: Review the background of the issue you are discussing. Answer why it is an issue of importance. Why you agree or disagree with others’ views. What in your opinion is a better way to look at/explain the issue or problem?
o Paragraph three: Describe your findings, views, understandings and explanations of your chosen question. Support your arguments with data, statistics, quotations and findings.
o Paragraph four: Draw your conclusions.
• Please make sure that there is no grammatical mistake, no misspelled words. One misspelled word will cost you 5 points. One grammatical mistake will also cost you 5 points.
