Step 1:Read the book: The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer(pdf online)
• As you read, take notes, recording as many significant details or facts as possible. Please make sure the notes include page numbers, quotes and passages of the text that caught your attention.
The goal is to pay attention to as many details, themes, symbols, motifs, etc. as possible. You should avoid merely summarizing the plot.
• a minimum of 4 (four) quality notes for each chapter.
1. Indicate and analyze recurring themes
2. Identify and analyze literary elements (symbolism, foreshadowing, metaphor, allusion, irony, theme,
etc.)
• Your notes should be numbered chronologically (1-4) for each chapter of the book. You should have a total of 60 notes by the end of the book.
– After Reading – Considering the themes listed, which one is most prevalent in the novel? How and why have you come to this conclusion? Be sure to cite sufficient textual evidence to support your response, including quotes with proper citations.
