Wk1 Assgn: Counselor as Scholar Practitioner
Since its inception, counseling as a profession has gone through an evolutionary process. Increasingly, counselors are required to provide evidence of their effectiveness. In order for you to be able to do this, you must understand research and program evaluation, two of the essential components of the Scholar Practitioner Model. In order for you to become a scholar practitioner, you should be able to identify the similarities and differences among the various approaches to research and program evaluation. You should also be able to understand the implications of a scholar practitioner philosophy within the world of the counseling profession.
The assignment: (2 pages)
Using your Learning Resources, describe the role of research in the counseling profession.
Next, examine the role that either the Scholar Practitioner Model or the Scientist Practitioner Model serves within the counseling profession. What are the implications for using these models to guide professional practice?
Support your Application Assignment with specific references to all resources used in its preparation. You are required to provide a reference list and to appropriately cite, in APA style, all references used within your assignment.
