Instruction
The purpose of this assignment is to engage critical thinking in discussing ethical behavior. The audio report poses the question, why do such smart and well-educated persons make these choices that end up in jail. The interviewer uses the expression - 'Managing in the Grey'. Right and Wrong are usually clear and well-defined concepts. It's the shades of grey that get more difficult for some to navigate. Don't use your discussion to argue the case of whether or not any of these individuals are guilty. Rather explain, using the concepts of ethics you will have read in the text, (including individualism view, utilitarian view, justice view, and moral-rights view), how do persons - regardless of how well educated they are, how do they deal with ethical challenges that they encounter. Describe the ethical philosophies and constructs related to ethics that are present or missing and that help us understand this question.
You may refer to topics like honesty, transparency, or moral courage. (When you refer to these topics, I will need you to define them and say how each concept influences ethical practices in the workplace.) Note that your post should be supported by the theories and management concepts of ethics that are in the text, and not based only on your opinion. Your response should also refer to at least one ethical philosophy that the text describes.
Start your assignment ... your discussion early. Remember you will need to comment on the posts of at least 2 other classmates at least three other days of the week. Post early and engage often in the discussion. Of course, remember your discussions should be posted under the Ethics discussion forum, should draw out the concepts that your chapter emphasizes, and should show your understanding of the importance of ethics in a business' success.
