In Full Body Burden and in the article we are reading for next class, "The demise and rebirth of the ethical engineer,Preview the document" we see multiple examples of scientists or engineers being pressured by their employer to make choices that led to other people (and sometimes themselves) being harmed. Pick one example that stands out to you, and in 1-2 pages, describe why you think these people made the decisions that they did. Then imagine what company environment could have led them to make a better choice. Finally, relate these issues to your own experience: have you ever been in a situation where you are being pressured to make a choice that you know is morally wrong? How did you respond? What factors made it easier (or would have made it easier) to make the good choice? Alternately, you can imagine how you would have responded to the pressures faced by engineers at Rocky Flats, VW, or Boeing.
